New Development Alert!
An ambitious new housing project is currently in the midst of getting approval. Just south of Squamish in Britannia Beach, a new community aims to give residents the perfect day, every day. This massive planned community plans to feature over 1,000 homes, Canada’s largest wave garden surf park, 2 beaches, a Brewery, Skatepark, Pumptrack, Retail and Co-working spaces, sports fields, community center, schools, hotel, campground, cliffside restaurant, and suspension bridge. South Britannia, as it’s currently being called by parent corporation Tiger bay Development Corp is truly a love letter to the Sea to Sky region.
A quick drive to Squamish, and situated between Vancouver and Whistler, this community aims to give residents easy access to all of the Sea to Sky.
Phase 1
If the majority of the rezoning is finished this year, the surf park could open by 2024. There are also some commercial spaces planned to be built in this initial phase.
Phase 2
Phase 2 will include about 250 to 300 homes—a mix of duplexes, townhouses, and apartments—at market prices. The idea is to rejuvenate a currently underused space to put in place more affordable houses into the Sea to Sky for young families and professionals.
Future Phases
The four-phase master plan allows for up to 1,050 homes: 900 market houses and 150 rental apartments, 50 of which will be affordable housing units.
