Pemberton is extremely fortunate to have been able to begin develop an incredible recreation park with the generous land donation from the Den Duyf family. For Art Den Duyf, founder of a local excavation and construction company the Sabre Group, giving back to the community was always a priority. After his passing in 2012, his final wishes gifted the Village of Pemberton an eight-hectare piece of land.

A site concept was developed in partnership with the SLRD and Lil’wat Nation and proposed amenities including two grass soccer fields, two smaller practice fields, one slow pitch field and recreation facilities including an arena, a swimming pool and multi-sport complex.

The concept has since been revised to include an amenity building adjacent to the second FIFA regulation-size soccer field (including washrooms, change rooms, a concession stand, and storage) as well as the replacement of the two smaller practice fields with a Mountain Bike Skills Park.

So far, the construction of the first soccer field has been completed, the second soccer field construction is under way and site preparations have begun for the bike skills park.

This park is a huge asset to the communities it serves and everyone who visits it to enjoy. Take a look at the progress next time you’re up in Pemberton!
